an experiment
There is a referral link further down this page. I would rather explain it before you meet it.
This site has never had anything to sell. No newsletter, no ads, no analytics — I like it that way. This page is the one exception, which is exactly why it lives here and not on the front page.
the story
Before a long flight I spent most of an evening looking for one continuous piece of music. Nine hours to fill. I went through albums, thought about offline files and battery, wondered whether Reich would hold or start grating somewhere over the water, considered Glass instead, considered giving up.
I boarded without deciding, and listened to nothing at all.
A few days after I got back I remembered that I had been paying for Endel the entire time.
The useful part is not the forgetting. It is what the evening revealed: my problem was never which music to choose. My problem was that I kept choosing. Endel generates a continuous sound environment rather than handing you a list, so the choosing simply stops. For work this turned out to matter more than I expected — not because the sound is remarkable, but because I stopped reaching for my phone every four minutes to change something.
At night it is less deliberate than that. I don't have a HomePod yet, so I just leave Endel playing on the Apple TV and go to sleep; it keeps going until the TV switches itself off three or four hours later. Whether it helps me sleep I honestly can't tell you — but I am not lying there choosing something, and on a site called sleepless.today that is the only claim I am willing to make.
It has not cured my insomnia. It is a sound generator that removed one small decision a few hundred times a week. That is the whole review.
the deal, plainly
If you open Endel through the link below, you get 14 days of Premium for free. If three people do that and then make a first payment for Premium — any plan, not just the trial — Endel gives me a lifetime subscription. That is the entire mechanism, and the only reason this page exists.
If you recognised yourself in that evening before the flight, two weeks is long enough to find out whether it helps you too. If you didn't, it probably won't, and you can close the tab with my blessing.

I update that number by hand, which tells you roughly how seriously to take it as a metric.
the part I am less comfortable with
I am aware of how a referral link reads on a site that promises no advertising. It bothered me enough that I nearly did not write this, and then putting it on its own page — with the arrangement stated outright — seemed more honest than quietly not mentioning it.
Only newly created Endel accounts count, and only after a first real payment. So if you already have an account, or you try it for two weeks and walk away, nothing happens for me. That seems like the right shape for it.
If you came here for the notes, they are over here, and nothing on this page follows you there.
